I’m Monica VanBuskirk, and I’m running to represent you in House District 9.
This district is home to families of all kinds who want to feel safe and not just afford the basic necessities but thrive. That means tackling the cost-of-living crisis, making our neighborhoods safer for everyone, and creating policies that allow our local businesses to compete and grow.
My name is Monica VanBuskirk. I am a small business owner, parent, policy expert, and active community member.
In my everyday life, I focus on bringing people together in ways that honor everyone’s experiences and perspectives. Whether I’m organizing neighborhood events, supporting public health initiatives, or joining my children at “honk and wave” protests to show that everyone has a voice in our democracy, I believe in meeting people where they are and inviting them to bring their talents to the team that is community.
In my day job as a policy advisor, I draft bills and advocate for laws that put the people most affected by policies first. I get things done at the Capitol by finding common ground, centering community needs and interests, and building strong connections with policymakers and community-led organizations.
I know firsthand how important it is to have elected officials that are part of the community, understand the challenges we face, and who will represent and fight for all of us. That’s why I’m running to represent you in House District 9.
